Our Story

We're Maeve and Mikhail.

Maeve is from Ireland and Mikhail is from Lebanon. Although our journey together began many years ago in Germany, we always shared the same dream—to find a special place in the sunshine where family and friends could come together, slow down and create lasting memories.

We're also proud parents to our two wonderful adult children, Tara and Daniel. As a family, we've always treasured time spent together, whether it's sharing long meals, exploring new places or simply enjoying each other's company. That love of togetherness inspired our search for a place that felt welcoming, peaceful and full of warmth.

Over the years, we explored many beautiful parts of Spain, searching for somewhere that truly felt like home. The moment we discovered Mediterranean Gardens in Torrevieja, we knew we'd found it. With its lush gardens, five swimming pools, peaceful atmosphere and wonderful location just a short stroll from the Mediterranean, it was everything we had been hoping for.

Just a 10-minute walk from Casa Donachi is a beautiful sandy beach with calm, family-friendly waters. It's one of our favourite places to swim, take a morning walk or simply sit and watch the world go by. If you enjoy exploring on foot, the vibrant centre of Torrevieja is around a 40-minute walk along the coast, where you'll find the lively promenade, the beautiful Paseo del Mar, the marina and a fantastic choice of cafés, bars and restaurants overlooking the Mediterranean.

Some of our happiest memories here are the simplest ones—breakfast and fresh coffee on the terrace, mornings spent at the beach, lazy afternoons by the pool, and evenings filled with laughter over dinner as the sun slowly sets. These are the moments that remind us to slow down and enjoy what really matters.

As the day draws to a close, we love returning to the apartment to enjoy dinner on the terrace, watch the sunset and unwind in the private jacuzzi beneath a sky full of stars. If you're lucky, you might even spot the pink flamingos flying overhead as they make their way to and from the nearby salt lakes—a magical sight that still makes us stop and smile every time we see it.

One of the things that makes staying here so easy is the convenience of having everything you need within walking distance. Just a couple of minutes from the apartment you'll find Lidl, Aldi, Rossmann, TEDi, a bakery, pharmacy and other local shops, making it easy to pick up fresh bread for breakfast, groceries for dinner or anything else you might need. Once you've arrived, you can simply leave the car behind and enjoy everything Casa Donachi and Mediterranean Gardens have to offer.

Casa Donachi is much more than just our holiday home. It's the place where our family comes to reconnect, celebrate life's simple pleasures and create memories that stay with us long after we've returned home. It brings us great joy to share it with guests from around the world, and we hope that during your stay it becomes your home away from home too—a place where you can relax, reconnect with the people you love and make memories of your own.
